On 13 July 2016, the 3rd UNSG debate in the series took place at The Graduate Center, CUNY, in partnership with UNA-UK and Global Citizen. Moderators Thomas G. Weiss and Barbara Crossette, as well as members of the audience, posed a range of tough questions to three candidates: Christiana Figueres (Costa Rica), Vuk Jeremić (Serbia), and Danilo Türk (Slovenia). Next UN Secretary-General - The 1st New York Debate
The first of our two historic debates with candidates for the next Secretary-General was held in New York on 13 April 2016, and was the first ever public debate among nominees for the UN top job. Four contenders participated: Natalia Gherman, Igor Luksic, Vesna Pusic, and Danilo Turk. The event was held in partnership by FUNDS with UNA-UK, the New America Foundation, and the Guardian. Next UN Secretary-General - The London Debate
On Friday 3 June, three candidates vying for the top UN job - António Guterres, Igor Lukšić and Vuk Jeremić - tackled tough questions on peacekeeping, the UN budget, gender, climate and more at the iconic Barbican Centre in London. Over 1,500 people attended the event, which was hosted by FUNDS, UNA-UK, Denmark's Embassy in the UK, and the Guardian. Watch the entire 90 min debate here.
